Album M201 - circulation routière (military traffic police)

The photos below were taken by Jean-Louis Martin in 1976 at Tours during the traditional meeting on November the 11th. The jeeps are M201s belonging to the Ecole d'Application du Train which is based in Tours. The colour of the jeeps (white and green radiator grille, white rear bumpers) is typical of the circulation routière vehicles. The words CIRCULATION ROUTIERE are painted in white on the windshield frame panel but are not visible in the photos. The soldiers' helmets are white with a thin green line around them. Thanks to Jean-Louis Martin for these photos taken by him when he was aged 15. The registration numbers of the jeeps are 231-2241 (left photo) and 241-0442 (right photo).

A significant number of circulation jeeps were sold during the final large auctions in 2001/2002 indicating a long active service with the army. The jeep below is no. 14,332 built in 1961 and rebuilt at La Maltournée in 1971. It was sold at the final major auction of 25 M201s at Vayres near Bordeaux on the 11th July 2002. The NATO / OTAN markings indicate that it served with the 1st command squadron of the 622nd regiment de Circulation Routière (RCR).
