Marchal BPR 24 - early and later types
Both types are refered to as the same basic model i.e. BPR 24 manufactured by S.B.P. and distributed by Marchal. The first two photos below show an early type Marchal regulator made in 1962.
The coil layout is the same as the later type though differences include the use of a condenser to reduce sparking rather than a free-wheeling diode and the adjusters consist of knurled nuts to tension the springs rather than the cam adjuster in the later type shown below which dates from 1970.
Both types left the factory painted army green though units rebuilt by ERGM appear to have been repainted black. Technical details are given on the regulator page.
